Ensconced: established or settled in a comfortable, safe, or secret place. This column of icons is held in place, and protected, by a series of irregular stripes on either side of it.
Each one of these large silk squares is handpainted by Marilet in her studio in California. She mixes up individual batches of all natural dyes and hand applies them using different tools and methods for varying textures and results. The silk used is from India, and is an ahimsa/vegan cloth.
The symbols and shapes in these designs are from her core visual alphabet, which she has created over the years from shapes she sees during her meditation practice, those she observes in Nature and ones that she has noticed appear in the visual lexicons of various cultures around the world.
This wild silk will keep you warm in Winter and protect you from the sun in Summer.

As these pieces are handmade you may notice small visual quirks and irregularities. Dye colors slightly shift from batch to batch, and the design painted on each one may vary a bit here and there as well. May we invite you to embrace and love these unique markings, allowing them to remind you of the hands who’s time, work, and expertise went into their creation.
